Donate to support Demi overcome homelessness. All we have is each other and anything truly helps her situation ♥️ your support will go towards creating a safe environment for Demi, and finding a stable home after undergoing severe trauma.
Demi is a Black queer woman escaping an abusive household and trying to get enough funds to move into a place of her own. She’s lived with her family until 19 years old, taking care of her younger siblings. Recently, she made the brave decision to break away from an unsafe environment and set an example for her brother and sister. She feels lost, scared, and deeply hurt. She needs support from her community to help with stable footing, and eventually continue extending care for her family members. The goal is to secure enough funds for moving into a home of her own. What that looks like is covering first/last months rent alongside a security deposit, and additional support to ensure costs of living, like food.
We are always remaining optimistic, and will be so excited to share the progress of her journey with all who help out. Currently, with the help of close friends, Demi is gathering resources that are provided by the city of Chicago. However and despicably, certain places that provide said resources (shelters, non profit organizations) are rife with abusive “care takers” and/or “social workers”. The number of young women (and people of all ages) who undergo horrific experiences of sexual, physical, psychological abuse and trauma at these shelters/non profit institutions is rampant. This instils an abject fear and general distrust in these services for many who feel have no where else to turn, especially for non-white queer women/femmes of all ages.
If you are wanting to directly donate, so she can buy some tasty food, hygiene products, or something that brings her joy! like a new eyeshadow, hair care product, or lip gloss (it’s nice to have nice things) this is her cash app: $lashae1204
