Help Support Daxton Metcalf’s Journey Through Skull Reconstruction Surgery
Earlier this year, sweet baby Daxton Metcalf was diagnosed with metopic craniosynostosis, a condition where the bones in a baby’s skull fuse too early, affecting natural growth and development. The good news is that this condition can be corrected with surgery — and that journey begins very soon.
On July 29th, Daxton will undergo a major procedure in Dallas called Anterior Cranial Vault Expansion and Remodeling with Split Skull Cranioplasty. In simple terms, surgeons will be reshaping and repositioning parts of his skull to give his brain the space it needs to grow and thrive. This complex procedure will be performed by an incredible team — two surgeons (a plastic surgeon and a neurosurgeon) and three anesthesiologists — all working together to give Dax the best possible outcome.
We are asking for your prayers, support, and generosity as we walk through this journey. Please join us in praying specifically for:
- The surgeons and anesthesiologists, for wisdom and steady hands
- A smooth, complication-free recovery for Dax
- Strength and peace for mom and dad as they navigate the emotions and stress of this journey
If all goes well, Daxton is expected to live a completely normal life, with only occasional checkups along the way. We are deeply hopeful and grounded in our faith, trusting that God has Daxton in the palm of His hand. This is just one chapter in the beautiful testimony God is writing for his life.
If you're from the Oklahoma Panhandle, you know the Metcalf family's commitment to the Hooker community runs deep. They live out their faith daily through their love for family, community, and caring for others — values they model and pass down to the next generation.
The Metcalf roots also stretch to Oklahoma State University, where their Poke pride runs strong. Dax’s dad, Dayton, played football for OSU, and his mom, Taylor, was a proud member of the pom squad. His grandparents are devoted Cowboy fans who rarely miss a game, often making drives across the state in the wee hours and all kinds of weather to support their kids’ activities in Stillwater. And they’ll soon be cheering on Dax’s Aunt Devry, who is set to become the next Metcalf Cowboy. The entire family is truly orange to their core.
Unfortunately, insurance covers very little of the procedure and related care, which starts at $60,000. This includes the surgery, hospital stay, anesthesia, travel, and follow-up appointments. While the Metcalfs are doing everything they can to prepare, they can’t do this alone, and we have an opportunity to support them in the same way they show up for their communities.
If you're able, your donation would help ease the financial burden and allow Dayton and Taylor to focus fully on Dax’s recovery. Whether you can give, share, or simply keep Dax and his care team in your prayers, your support means the world to this strong, faith-filled family.
Thank you for walking alongside them in faith, hope, and love.
