Stand with Dave: Battling Cancer Together

Dear friends and family,
To know our Dad, Dave Hohler is to love him. It is simple, doesn’t require explanation. Those of us blessed to be a part of his life know.
You may know our dad from the many years he worked at Andersen Windows. Or you may know him from his smiling face if he delivered flowers to you in his retirement when he worked at Hudson Flower Shop. Or maybe you know Dad and Mom from the many times they volunteered in and around our Hudson community. They have always been there for others and we are asking for your help to give back to them.
The past six weeks have been an extremely difficult time for our family. On February 16th, after working the Valentine's holiday at the flower shop, Dad was having back pain that could not be ignored, and he and Mom went into urgent care that evening. This trip to urgent care turned into a very unexpected and serious diagnosis that no one ever could have expected. After further investigation and establishing care at Mayo Clinic Rochester, Dad is facing incurable lung cancer that has spread to his liver and bones. Treatment is available to slow the growth, so the focus has been to get it going as soon as possible as his health declined so quickly and drastically.
In the short time since learning of Dad’s cancer, besides the emotional impact there has been a significant financial toll. With the many hospital stays down in Rochester there is travel expenses, lodging accommodations, as well as medical expenses that insurance does not cover. Mom being Dads main caregiver has taken so much time off of work and as a business owner does not have vacation or sick pay to help with income. After dad retired he still worked to help financially and that is something he can no longer do.
All funds raised will go directly to Dad and Mom to help ease the heavy financial stress so that they can focus on Dads care and comfort at this time.
In this short time, Dad has faced multiple roadblocks to getting his treatments started, such as blood clots and pneumonia, which both resulted in hospitalization. He has endured countless tests, MRIs, CT scans, a PET scan, a biopsy, and has stayed positive and strong throughout this process. He is fighting hard.
Dad has quite the road ahead with more treatments, including chemotherapy, which he was finally able to start last week, immunotherapy, and radiation.
This diagnosis has financially impacted our parents greatly, as Mom has been by Dads side almost every moment, exactly where she needs to be.
Our family is reaching out to you for help.
If you can financially contribute, we sincerely thank you. If you cannot contribute financially but instead say a prayer, keep our family in your thoughts, and hug your own loved ones a little tighter today we welcome that as well.
With love and gratitude, his daughters,
Kim, Stacey, and Amy
