Stand with Daniel Lay in His Health Battle

Donation protected
I am writing to you today with a heavy heart, seeking your prayers and financial assistance for my amazing husband, our dear friend and family member, Daniel Lay.

Daniel is a remarkable individual who has worn many hats throughout his life. He was a successful entrepreneur, running a painting company in the DFW Area for nearly 25 years. His professional commitments were always balanced by his devotion to his family. This included serving as a loving husband of 39 years to his wife Michelle, whom he affectionately refers to as "his lovely bride," as well as a devoted father to our three sons, Eric, Ryan, and Zackery. In addition, he is an adoring Pop-Pop to his grandson Zackery Zeppelin Lay.

Daniel and I have shared a love for travel, particularly by car, train, plane, and cruise. Daniel was also an active participant in our sons' lives, serving as a scout leader in Arlington, TX Troop 118 and accompanying them on numerous camping and backpacking trips, including a 10-day hike at Philmont Boy Scout Camp in New Mexico.

In addition to his roles as a husband and father, Daniel is deeply committed to his faith and community. He served as an Associate Pastor at Church on the Hill for nearly a decade, earning a Bachelor of Science in Religious Studies in 2013 and a Master of Divinity in 2015. He regularly ministered to inmates at the Hill County Jail, visited nursing homes, and provided comfort and support to countless individuals and families during times of illness and death.

Daniel's dedication to his faith is evident in his actions, as he has performed numerous weddings and funerals, always extending the love and teachings of Jesus to those in need. His compassion and commitment to serving his community are a testament to his character and the impact he has had on those around him.

Tragically, Daniel is currently battling a life-threatening illness called Interstitial lung disease (ILD). His condition has progressed to a critical stage, and he is in urgent need of a lung transplant.

After a thorough evaluation, the Transplant Selection Committee at UTSW Dallas has approved Daniel for either a single or bi-lateral lung transplant, whichever becomes available first. While we trust in the power of Jesus Christ and do not walk in fear, we are asking for your prayers for the will of the Lord to be carried out in this situation.
The severity of Daniel's illness forced him into early retirement, which had a drastic impact on our finances. In addition to the financial burden of uncovered medical costs, I will need to be available to him 24 hours a day for a minimum of six to eight weeks. In the event that Daniel's lung is provided by the Lord, this is essential to provide him with the very best care. As a result, I will not be able to work during Daniel's transplant and recuperation, causing our family to experience a compounded loss of income. We are asking for your prayerful consideration in providing financial support.
In this challenging time, we are reminded of our life verse, Proverbs 3:5-6: 'Lean not unto your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge the Lord and He shall direct your path.'

We are deeply grateful for your prayers and generosity during this time of need for our family. We seek your assistance as we navigate this difficult journey. Regardless of the amount, every contribution makes a difference.
We are blessed by your prayers, kindness, and support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Sincerely,
Daniel & Michelle Lay
