Stand with UA CRC Directors: Urgent Support Needed
Donation protected
On May 27th, 2025 the directors of the seven Cultural Resource Centers (CRCs) at the University of Arizona (UA) were notified that they will be laid off and given 30 days notice on June 1st, 2025. This came after months of faculty, students, staff, and community members advocating for the CRCs and speaking out to the administration about the importance of the CRCs.
The CRCs at UA provide students with far more than just gathering spaces. They provide embedded counselors, programming, access to emergency resources and support, and so much more. They help students find community and provide safe spaces for them to find themselves. These are critical resources, and the directors are driving force of these centers. They provide the experience, guidance, and support that is critical for their coordinators, student employees, and program participants. They spend tireless hours advocating for their employees and students, standing strong between the administration and policies and decisions that will impact staff and students alike. They are irreplicable.
The individuals who run the CRCs have ensured over the years that students have food, housing, and other critical resources. Let's show up as a community for them and help provide them the urgent support they need as they are suddenly without employment. If you cannot monetarily support, please share widely. All forms of support are important.
There are other things happening to speak up for the directors of the CRCs. The goal of this campaign is to help support these individuals while those actions are taken. All funds donated will be split equally between all CRCs directors, unless individuals would like to share their portion with others who have higher needs. These funds will cover bills, health insurance costs, etc., while we fight for their positions or until they can secure other options for themselves. Any additional funds beyond what they need will be shared with community via mutual aid efforts. We will work to keep you updated about things as the situation unfolds.
Every share matters and every dollar is greatly appreciated, so please share with your networks and donate even $1 if you can.
In solidarity and thank you for your time, your donations, and for sharing.
