Help Cody Craven Recover After Devastating Burn Accident
We’re reaching out on behalf of Cody Craven, a beloved young man from our community who is facing the fight of his life after a tragic accident.
Cody was burning brush behind his house when a diesel can he was using suddenly exploded, causing flames to engulf him. He suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns on over 40% of his body, with the most severe damage to his arms and hands. Due to the extent of his injuries and the trauma to his lungs, Cody was life-flighted to the Burn Unit in Birmingham, Alabama, where he remains in a medically induced coma to help manage his pain and allow his body to begin the healing process.
Right now, Cody’s kidneys are not functioning properly, and doctors are closely monitoring him to decide within the next 24 hours whether he will need temporary dialysis. To reduce dangerous swelling in his arms, surgeons have had to make pressure-relieving incisions, a necessary but painful part of his recovery.
Cody is expected to be in the burn unit for several weeks—possibly up to 3 to 5 months. His journey will include multiple surgeries, skin grafts, intense rehab, and a long road of physical and emotional healing. But we know Cody is a fighter, and he is surrounded by love and support.
We are asking for donations to help cover the growing medical expenses, travel and lodging for family, long-term therapy, and all the unexpected costs that come with such a traumatic event. His family is doing everything they can to be by his side, but they can’t do it alone.
Please consider donating. No amount is too small.
Also, if you would like to give In Person you can drop your donations by the Valley Police Department, or Boyd’s screen printing shop on 20th Avenue in Valley, Alabama.
And if you can’t give, please pray and share this story with others. Your support means everything.
We will continue to post updates as Cody progresses through this difficult journey. Thank you all for the outpouring of love and prayers so far. Let’s rally together and help Cody come through this stronger than ever.
