Clay is the most generous person I have ever met. He has spent his life helping others — whether through his work, his kindness, or his willingness to give his time and heart to those in need. Years ago, he served as a Peace Corps volunteer in my country: Paraguay, where he worked tirelessly to improve the health and lives of people in one of the poorest regions of the country. That same compassion and dedication have defined him ever since.
When I faced my own breast cancer battle, Clay became my rock. He gave his everything to make sure I never felt alone or afraid. His strength carried me through, and now it breaks my heart that he is the one in need of support.
Clay has recently been diagnosed with invasive malignant melanoma, a serious form of skin cancer. He will need to undergo surgery and chemotherapy, a long and challenging road both physically and financially in a place where there’s no universal and free healthcare for its citizens.
We are living in one of the richest countries in the world -if not the richest- and we cannot afford healthcare. Thus we only have each other for assistance and support in times like this. We’re asking for help to cover the growing medical expenses — surgery, treatment, medications, and the costs that come with recovery and time away from work. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help lift a bit of the weight from Clay’s shoulders and allow him to focus on healing.
Clay has given so much to others throughout his life — to me, to my children, and to every person lucky enough to cross his path. Now it’s our turn to give back.
If you can, please donate or share this campaign. Your kindness means more than words can express.
With gratitude,
Denise
