Stand with Cissy in Her Cancer Journey

We, the family of Cissy Nama Kula, are reaching out on her behalf to request your support during this incredibly challenging time.

Cissy, a devoted single mother of two (ages 12 & 14) from Uganda, has been courageously battling breast cancer since 2021. In 2024, our worst fears became reality when the cancer spread to her liver, making her fight even more challenging. As of 2026, the cancer has progressed to her lungs and bones and her current treatment is no longer effective. She urgently needs a 3rd line chemotherapy, PHESGO that is very costly and not available at the Uganda Cancer Institute. This means the treatment must be outsourced and fully paid by Cissy and her family.

Any assistance, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in her journey. Thank you for your kindness and support.

Read Cissy's story below:
In June 2021, my life changed forever when I received the devastating news—I had breast cancer. In that moment, all I could think about was death and what it would mean for my two children. The weight of that reality was crushing. But as time passed, I realized that this was not the end; it was a battle I had to fight.

With courage, I embraced the challenge. I underwent a mastectomy—an incredibly difficult decision—followed by a grueling treatment plan that included chemotherapy. The side effects were relentless: constant vomiting, fevers, mouth sores, drastic weight loss, skin darkening, overwhelming fatigue, dizziness, and the heartbreaking loss of my hair. Each day tested my strength in ways I never imagined.

After chemotherapy, I faced radiotherapy, which affected my right lung. Just when I thought the worst was behind me, the cancer spread to my liver. I was devastated, but I refused to give up. I began a second line of treatment and continued fighting with everything I had, even as the financial burden grew heavier.

As a single mother and the sole provider for my family, the cost of treatment has been overwhelming. Medical bills continue to mount, alongside the daily expenses of raising my children—school fees, basic needs, and ensuring they have stability despite my struggles.

Now, in 2026, my battle has taken another painful turn. The cancer has spread further to my bones and lungs, and my current treatment is no longer effective. I urgently need another line of treatment called PHESGO, which is not available at the Uganda Cancer Institute. It must be outsourced privately and fully funded by me. The cost is far beyond what I can manage on my own.

Today, I am reaching out for support. Your kindness and generosity can help ease this overwhelming financial strain, allowing me to access the treatment I desperately need while ensuring my children continue to receive the care and education they deserve.

I am deeply grateful for any assistance you can offer. Together, we can transform this difficult journey into a testament of hope and resilience.

Thank you for being a part of my story.
