Stand with Christopher Link: Defend Civil Rights

My name is Christopher Link. On April 2nd, 2025, at 16:45 hrs, the Greenwich, Connecticut Police Department served me and my family with a red flag risk warrant and search warrant, that somehow is related to vandalism in our subdivision. The result of this vandalism was two broken windows and damage to motor vehicles, one of which was my own car over a period of months.
The target items of interest listed on the search warrant were as follows: BB/pellet guns, BB's & pellets, plus air gun/BB gun optics. I consented, not having any other options at such a late hour in the day. For the next 4 hours and 45 minutes, 8-10 police officers searched our home and car. The end result was a variety of items not even remotely associated with BB guns or pellet guns were removed from our home.
As a veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq with 7 deployments, I was disgusted. My wife and my 61-year-old brother, who lives with us and who is mentally handicapped, has abdominal cancer and also has severe cerebral palsy, were both severely traumatized by this event. A complete violation of our family's civil rights, right to privacy, unreasonable search, and seizure. And my 2nd amendment rights is what has resulted from this alleged investigation of vandalism.
No prior phone or in-person contact or questioning from this police department was ever initiated before the search of our home. There was no explanation offered as to why more than 98% of the items seized were not listed on the search warrant or in the affidavit for the search warrant application.
There was zero explanation as to the origin of the risk warrant or whoever made the accusations that led to the issuance of the risk warrant by a local superior court judge, in spite of myself having had no prior criminal record or indications of any prior bad acts. The economic, physical, and emotional pressure of caring for my invalid brother has already placed severe stress on my wife and me. As everyone else in my family has abdicated responsibility for the care of my handicapped brother, we are fundraising to cover the legal fees and support our family during this difficult time.
