Hi, my name is Christopher Hobby and I’m a full-time single father doing my best to raise my son and give him a stable home. I never thought I’d be in a position like this — reaching out for help online — but this is truly my last resort.

Almost three years ago, my mother passed away. In her passing, she left behind more than memories — she left behind a property and a wish: that her home be split evenly between her four children. She wanted us to share it fairly, to keep the family together, and to make sure none of us — especially me and my son — would ever be without a place to live.

But sadly, things didn’t go as she intended.

While I now have a warranty deed that represents my rightful share, my three siblings — two of whom have homes of their own — are refusing to honor our mother’s wishes. They’re ignoring every agreement and fighting me at every turn. It’s a painful and heartbreaking situation, and it’s left me with no choice but to seek legal help to defend myself and my son’s future.

This fight comes on the heels of another major personal battle: I spent over $40,000 in a custody case just to secure the right to raise my son full-time. In the process, I lost my business and my income hasn’t been the same since. I no longer make anything close to what I used to, and the job I have now barely covers the essentials.

I’m doing everything I can to hold it together, but I simply can’t afford the retainer and legal fees on my own. That’s why I’m asking for help — to raise enough to hire an attorney, pay the initial retainer, and cover a small amount of ongoing hourly legal costs to move this case forward.

This isn’t about greed or gain. It’s about standing up for what’s right, for what my mother wanted, and for the roof over my child’s head.
