Stand with Chris: Overcoming Cancer Together

It feels so bizarre creating a (personal) fundraiser. Normally, I’m helping others raise money and awareness for various causes and needs. But here I am, on GoFundMe, because Chris and I are in such dire straits.

My fiancé, Chris Nelson, has been battling cancer off and on since 2019. Until the end of last summer (2024), everything seemed to be okay—until he noticed a lymph node on his neck that was abnormally large. Long story short, his cancer came back and spread upwards to his lymph nodes (apparently this is extremely common with testicular cancer).

The chemotherapy treatments for the relapse began early this year (2025), and the final treatment was in late March/early April.

Most recently, we received the news that the chemo didn’t work as expected or as well as the doctors anticipated. The next step is a somewhat (potentially) more aggressive chemo treatment. And, if necessary, a bone marrow transplant is extremely in the realm of possibilities. Basically, he is in a very severe position and these options *have* to help.

We had, and still have, every ounce of faith that he will kick cancer’s butt. He is a resilient fighter and is trying to have the best attitude and optimism going into this next step.

In addition to Chris’ cancer struggles, he also had to have a hip replacement in the winter of 2024. Afterwards, while he was sitting in an office-type rolling chair, just playing guitar, he moved slightly to turn a knob or something on an amp, and the hip replacement popped out—on two separate occasions within a couple of weeks! Needless to say, Chris has had a ROUGH couple of years… especially the last year.

For the past two years or so, I have been the only one able to work. We are to a point now where he is so sick, I am overwhelmed and exhausted from working as well as handling everything else (for the most part) that we all have to handle day to day as adults.

With that being said—and this is so difficult to come to terms with, or admit publicly—but we are on the struggle bus. I’m trying not to cry while typing this, but we need help. We genuinely could use whatever help anyone is able to contribute.

Thank you to everyone who even just clicked on this link to see what was going on. If you’re able to contribute monetarily to us, I can’t express enough thanks and appreciation.

If you have any questions or would like to touch base with either of us, we’d love to hear from you. Especially Chris—he hasn’t really told many people about this, and I think it’d mean the world to him simply to have people reach out to show support and just to check in on him.
