Chris was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer four years ago after he complained of stomach pain. So far, he has gone through thirty-seven sessions of chemo, been on an experimental drug that didn't work, and had radiation therapy to help get rid of some pain.
All of this is on top of everything he's been through since the day he was born with a cleft lip and palate, a heart murmur that needed to be repaired, and craniosynostosis, which means that the bones in his head had fused too early. This led to having his forehead detached from his skull, reshaped, and reconnected, twice. He also had to have a mid-face distraction where he wore a halo, and every day we would turn screws and pull the lower cheekbones forward.
To say that he has had a rough life is an understatement, but through it all, he has been a true soldier, fighting through incredible pain and discomfort and looks from strangers because of his appearance.
Yes, he looks different, but he is no less of a compassionate person with a huge heart.
This fundraiser is to help him get to do things he hasn't been able to do since he can't work anymore, and the bit of disability doesn't really stretch too far.
We appreciate any and all donations.
