Stand with Chase: Fight Against Unjust Lawsuit

Help Protect Chase’s Future

My name is Barry Mezey, and as someone with a disability, I know firsthand the challenges that come with fighting for the right support. That’s why I feel compelled to help my friends, Tommy and Sophie, who are facing an exhausting legal battle—one no parent should ever have to fight, especially against their own family.

Meet Chase

Chase is a loving, happy six-year-old with a bright spirit and a contagious smile. He brings so much joy to his family, especially his big sister, Holly, who adores him and dreams of the day he can talk and play with her.

Chase is also autistic (Level 3), nonverbal, and faces significant challenges. He struggles with communication, making it difficult for him to express his needs, feelings, or when something is wrong. He has severe feeding difficulties and has never eaten solid food in his life. He is also a high elopement risk, meaning he does not sense danger and requires constant supervision to keep him safe. Despite these obstacles, he has made tremendous progress through therapy, but his journey is far from over.

His parents, Tommy and Sophie, have dedicated their lives to ensuring he has the care, support, and stability he needs. Sophie left her job after Chase’s diagnosis to be with him full-time, while Tommy runs a small home business to provide for their family. Their world revolves around giving Chase every opportunity to thrive.

But instead of focusing solely on their son’s care and progress, Tommy and Sophie are now forced to fight a legal battle that never should have happened in the first place.

A Grandmother’s Gift Under Attack

Tommy’s grandmother, wanting to ensure Chase’s future, gifted part of a property to his Special Needs Trust—a fund meant to protect his care. But instead of respecting that gift, Tommy’s mother is suing to take it away. She owns the other half of the property, but half isn’t enough. She wants it all, even if it means leaving her own disabled grandson with nothing.

This fight goes beyond money—it’s about doing what’s right for Chase. Tommy’s mother has never even met Chase, nor has she ever cared to, despite being given the chance. She has made no effort to be part of his life, yet she is now actively trying to take away something meant to secure his future. This just shows the kind of person she truly is. Her actions make it clear that this isn’t about fairness or family—it’s a personal vendetta against Tommy, and she’s using the legal system to target an innocent child.

This isn’t the first time she’s sued family for personal gain—but this time, her target is a little boy who can’t defend himself.

Why Your Help Matters

Tommy and Sophie have spent years fighting for Chase—navigating therapies, medical appointments, and the daily challenges of raising a child with complex needs. They should be focused on their children, not draining their energy and finances fighting a cruel and unnecessary lawsuit.

Holly also deserves to grow up in a home full of love and hope, not one overshadowed by legal battles and greed.

But fighting this lawsuit is expensive, and without help, they face difficult choices that could impact Chase’s care.

How You Can Help

We are raising funds to:

✔️ Cover legal fees to fight this unjust lawsuit and protect Chase’s trust

✔️ Stop ongoing legal harassment and ensure Chase’s future remains secure

✔️ Ensure Chase’s future remains secure, as his great-grandmother intended

Every donation—big or small—helps keep Chase’s future safe. If you can’t donate, please share this campaign. Spreading the word is just as powerful.

No parent should have to fight their own mother to protect their child. Let’s stand together and make sure Chase gets the future he deserves.

Thank you for your kindness and support. Your donation is fully tax deductible under IRS federal income tax laws as a charitable contribution.
