What happened?
In mid-January 2026, Cyclone Harry , a very intense Mediterranean storm, brought extraordinary winds, rain and sea surges to southern Italy, especially Sicily’s eastern and Ionian coasts.
Wave heights of up to 16m were recorded in the central Mediterranean, the highest ever measured in the region during this event. The storm generated storm surges, fierce seas, heavy rainfall and damaging winds that battered coastal towns and infrastructure from Taormina to Catania and beyond.
Damages
Homes and infrastructure suffered widespread damages.
Tourism and local businesses, especially beachfront facilities, hotels, bars and marinas, were heavily damaged.
The situation on the ground is deeply challenging for many families, small businesses, coastal towns and maritime sectors.
Support & Collaboration
InsidEtna was created from a genuine desire, deep passion, and, above all, profound respect for this extraordinary and beautiful corner of the world.
What has happened to the landscapes, the families and the small business in this region is something we simply feel very touched by.
For this reason, starting today and continuing until Monday, March 24th, we will dedicate our efforts to supporting recovery initiatives through a dedicated fundraising campaign.
We are sincerely proud to announce the beginning of a four-week collaboration with P095, dedicated to raising funds for the areas along the east coast of Catania, near Mount Etna, that were severely affected by Cyclone Harry.
P095, a non-profit social enterprise deeply rooted in the territory, has been actively supporting the community since the cyclone struck.
At the end of the fundraising campaign, all funds raised will be fully transferred to the team at P095 to support their ongoing work in the affected areas.
THANKS
Our heartfelt thanks to Claudia Aglianó, who helped and supported us to start the connection with P095 and has been such an instrumental person to bring this fundraising to life.
