Hello! My name is Kayla and I have created this GoFundMe for my cousin, Brittani Potter. Brittani has been on the search for a living kidney donor for a while and has finally got a match! We are setting up this GoFundMe to help with the financial burden that comes with transplants and post-op medical needs for both she and her family. Please continue reading to learn about Brittani and her journey.

Brittani’s Story:

In 2019, Brittani was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), 1D ADPKD. PKD is a genetic disease in which she has the dominant variant and her case was deemed aggressive. When she found out she had PKD, she was already in stage 3 chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Brittani’s nephrologist, after many different labs were drawn and an MRI was conducted, discovered over 90% of her kidneys had cyst growth. With PKD, cysts grow on/in the kidneys and, with greater cyst growth, the function of the kidneys lessens. He projected/guessed, with her then-results and some medical knowledge, that Brittani would probably need to consider dialysis or be put on a transplant list within 10 years.

Unfortunately, in 2024, that 10 years was reduced to 5 years due to new lab results. The labs indicated that her GFR was 13 and was in stage 5 CKD, also known as End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).

A few months ago, Brittani was told that that her GFR (glomerular filtration rate) fell to a 9, so she would be referred to Ohio State University for a PD catheter placement surgery to begin the process of dialysis.

Today, we can share the incredible news that Brittani has been matched with a living donor! A friend and coworker will be blessing everyone that loves Brittani by helping to give her the healthy life she deserves. The transplant is scheduled for June. With Brittani being off work for a while and the future appointments that will follow, we are kindly asking to help take off some of the financial burden while she focuses on physical and mental healing.

Get to know Brittani Potter:

Brittani is a 36-year-old graphic designer from Ohio. She is a puppy parent to her dog Hercules, who has brought her so much joy!

Brittani is a board member with Apple City Players, with whom she has also acted and directed in productions. Brittani is also a board member of the Southern Hills Arts Council in Jackson. At one time, she served as president of the board but took a step back due to medical issues. This is a volunteer board that serves the community with the arts.

This past year, Brittani spearheaded the Foothills Arts Festival and it went off with major success! Brittani has been honing her comedy chops at open mic nights in Southern Ohio, with the dream of one day being able to have her own Netflix special someday (which, if you know her, would be incredible!). Brittani also enjoys trivia and has had the opportunity to host several trivia nights at Stockroom 901.

As you have read, Brittani wears many hats. With that, she is also a daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, dog mom, niece, friend, and coworker.

Brittani is one of the most kind and selfless humans we know. She will always support those whom she loves (and even strangers). Now it’s her turn to rely on the help and love she has so graciously given for years.
