Stand with Brian: Facing Critical Condition

Hello everyone. My name is Cher Williard. I am the wife of Brian Williard. We have been together since 1996. We have been married for almost 28 years.

On April 20th, 2025, (Easter Sunday), Brian was admitted into the hospital. He was having trouble breathing and was feeling very tired and worn out. About 7 years ago, Brian was diagnosed with A-Fib.

People can live with that their whole lives if properly treated, which he has been faithfully doing.

He started getting sick (later found out it was RSV) and it was getting harder for him to breathe and he was feeling worn down and tired all the time. On that day, (April 20th) he told me he wanted to go to the hospital. (Anyone that knows Brian knows that if he says that, something is serious). After about 4 hours in the ER, they transported him to Morton Plant Hospital. They started treating the RSV with antibiotics immediately and decided to wait a few days to do the "routine" procedure to shock his heart to give the medicine time to help with the sickness. On Thursday, April 24th at 8:45 am, they took him down for his procedure. As soon as they administered the anesthesia, his heart stopped and he had no pulse. They immediately started CPR and gave his heart a shot of epinephrine to revive him. Once they got his heartbeat back, they brought him to the ICU where he remains today (May 5th). He was on a breathing machine and many different IVs to keep him alive. 3 days later, he was off the breathing machine and a few of the medications. He started eating "normal" foods (restricted diet) with the help of me feeding him. Then things started to go downhill rapidly. His EF is only at 25% and has been the whole time. His heart rate has been between 170-190, his blood pressure is between 84/46 or a little above, he has permanent liver damage and it is very, very sick and his kidneys are now going downhill again. The only thing left that they can do is give him the medication they have been holding off on because his liver wouldn't be able to handle it to bring his heart rate down. The doctors have said they didn't want to but have no choice but to give it to him now. It's called Amiodorone. They started him on that at 3 pm Sunday, May 4th. He is now back on all machines that are keeping him alive and it's up to his body at this point. It's like his body has been running a marathon from day 1. He has a fever (signs of infections), and his liver numbers are astronomical. I have been trying to keep everyone updated on Facebook so that I don't have to keep reliving this nightmare over and over again! I am mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted, but BY NO MEANS GIVING UP! The doctor called me personally yesterday to tell me that it's time to just come and be with my husband. We have had many family members and friends that have come to show their support for both of us. The outpouring of love and support has been TRULY AMAZING AND TREMENDOUS! We will be forever grateful to all of you and we love you all so very much!❤️ We do not know what the road ahead looks like, other than it's going to be a very long one WHEN he comes home. Brian has been the rock of our family and has been supporting me because of all my own medical issues that don't allow me to work. I am asking and reaching out for anyone who may be able to help. Whether through donations or sharing. Medical bills, as you can imagine, are piling up, he will not be able to work, medications (lifelong) will be needed, and being able to just keep up financially with our everyday bills is going to be a serious struggle. He is still in very critical condition and I even need to start planning for a different outcome . I am broken. Please, if any of you can be of help, we would greatly appreciate it. Even if it's just sharing our story.

Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart! Much love and respect to all of you.
