Dear Friends and Family,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share news about my cousin, Brandise. Many of you know she has been courageously battling breast cancer and was on the path to remission. Sadly, everything changed on September 18th when a PET scan revealed the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes near the diaphragm and liver, lower spine, and left femur.

Brandise’s Journey

This is Brandise’s second fight against breast cancer. Her first diagnosis came on December 10, 2020. After chemotherapy, medications, countless appointments, and a mastectomy, she finally rang the bell of victory. Throughout that journey, her strength and resilience were fueled by her incredible support system—her husband Brian, children Aurianna and James, and best friend Shannon.

The Latest Update

On October 16th, 2025, after what began as a routine appointment, Brandise learned her cancer had transformed from a common type (IDC ER+PR+HER2-) into Triple Negative Breast Cancer—a rare and aggressive form that is much harder to treat. Tests show that all FDA-approved drugs either failed to stop the cancer or caused it to grow faster.

Her new treatment plan includes high-dose oral chemotherapy to slow the spread, which may be gentler than traditional IV chemo. She’s also been referred to UC San Diego for a second opinion and possible clinical trials that could offer hope, but this will result in additional time off work as well as increased expenses due to the travel.
