(Update as of 12/18/2025):
With very heavy hearts, we share the news that Bob passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13th.
While we knew the road ahead would be difficult, Bob’s journey with cancer moved much faster than any of us ever anticipated. Karin, Katherine, and Alexandra are heartbroken that their time together was cut short, but they find comfort and relief knowing that Bob's suffering was not prolonged and he is now at peace. He spent his final moments surrounded by his loved ones, carrying the prayers and support you all provided him.
The Murphy family is deeply moved by the outpouring of generosity shown over the past few weeks. As we grieve and look to honor Bob’s memory, we will continue to use this GoFundMe to help Karin navigate the upcoming funeral expenses and outstanding medical costs. Additionally, because their overall household income is significantly impacted with Bob's sudden passing, these funds will help cover ongoing life expenses as Karin adjusts to this new reality. Our goal is to ensure that Karin, Katherine, and Alexandra have the space they need to mourn and focus on each other during this time of loss, without the weight of immediate financial pressure.
Memorial details will be posted here as soon as they are finalized. Thank you for standing by the Murphys, for loving Bob so well, and for providing this family with such a strong sense of support and community when it has been needed most.
With love and gratitude,
Felicity (on behalf of Karin, Katherine, and Alexandra)
____________________________________
I’m Felicity, Bob Murphy's cousin. With the blessing and partnership of Bob’s wife, Karin, and their daughters Katherine and Alexandra, I’m helping to share Bob's story and rally support. Our family is united in this effort and doing everything we can to help Bob at a very difficult time.
Bob recently received a diagnosis of metastatic basal cell carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of skin cancer that has spread beyond the skin and now requires intensive, ongoing treatment. Currently, Bob has several tumors in his brain, spine, around his lungs and heart, and on his leg. Bob's doctors with City of Hope believe these tumors are all related to the primary basal cell carcinoma and have created a treatment plan to aggressively address these tumors and work towards remission. The oncology team at City of Hope is truly world-class, and they have already started Bob on treatment.
Anyone who knows Bob knows his heart. He’s a devoted father, husband, brother, and friend, and beloved by so many. While it can be difficult for many of us to ask for financial assistance in times like these, we know countless people in our community love the Murphys and we are looking for ways to support Bob, Karin, Katherine, and Alexandra at this time.
Why We’re Asking for Help
Bob’s treatment plan is complex and physically demanding. While he focuses on fighting this cancer, his family is also collaboratively acting in a caregiving capacity. With this sudden life change, we want to help alleviate any potential financial strain that may impact the family as a whole.
We are setting an initial goal of $25,000 to help relieve the financial pressures that come with this unexpected medical journey. Your support will help cover:
- Lost wages for Bob and family as they navigate constant medical appointments
- Out-of-pocket medical expenses not covered by insurance
- Travel, lodging, and daily living costs related to treatment
- Household expenses so the family can focus on Bob
Every donation, no matter the size, brings real relief and allows Bob to put his energy where it belongs: healing, resting, and staying strong for himself and the people who love him.
Where does the money go?
To relieve some of the administrative burden on immediate family, I am helping manage this fundraiser for the Murphys. Any funds raised will be transferred directly from GoFundMe into Bob and Karin's bank account.
How You Can Help
If you are able, please donate. If you can’t give financially, sharing this fundraiser with your community is just as meaningful. Messages of support, prayers, and positive thoughts are also deeply appreciated.
Our family believes fiercely in Bob’s strength, and we are committed to helping him fight this with everything we have. Thank you for standing with him, for easing the burden, and for giving hope when it’s needed most. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support of Bob and the Murphy family!

"We are so grateful for our friends and family. Thank you for your prayers, your love, and your encouragement. They are making a difference. The future may feel uncertain, but today is beautiful. Today, there is hope" - Bob
