My name is Bev Hoskins, and I’ve proudly served our nation for 27 years through active duty and reserve military service, including 18 years as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) assigned to the 916th Air Refueling Wing, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina.

I was on track to retire honorably at age 60, but everything changed on October 2, 2024 when I experienced a seizure & was flown to Wake Med. On New Year’s Day I was diagnosed with Glioblastoma — an aggressive and terminal brain cancer. Despite undergoing two brain surgeries, I am now facing a 3rd craniotomy tomorrow morning, on September 11th at Duke Brain Tumor Center due to the tumors coming back & are now pressing against my brain stem. I continue to fight with faith & strength. Now, I’m also fighting to survive financially.

Why I’m Asking for Help:

Because of my GBM diagnosis, I’m undergoing a Military Evaluation Board (MEB) determination caused by exposure to toxic burn pits during deployments to Turkey, Qatar, and Al Udeid. Until the MEB decision is finalized — which could take +/- six months — I receive no military/or civilian pay. As an ART, I’ll also lose my civilian GS position if I’m deemed medically unfit.

I’ve gone from proudly serving in uniform every day to being completely cut off from income. Fellow military and civilian federal employees have generously donated their individual paid leave to keep me going however, leave donations are all depleted now.
