Stand with Bennet: Overcoming Cancer Once More
Donation protected
Hello,
Many people are familiar with Bennet’s story. He has had an incredibly difficult fight with cancer starting at 2.5 years old. He beat that cancer after a relapse and received a liver transplant in April of 2020. A year later, he developed a secondary, treatment-related leukemia. He endured more chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant from his little sister, Lilyan, a few days before Christmas 2021.
Bennet has enjoyed nearly 3 years in remission. However, some lab work started to seem off in January 2025. We traveled to Cincinnati for further testing, and it was confirmed on February 28, 2025, that his leukemia has returned.
We are devastated, to say the least. He has been doing so well, and we were finally starting to move forward as a family.
He will begin treatment against his 4th battle with cancer in March 2025. He will likely need a second stem cell transplant. We have hope that he can achieve remission again. Treatments have made great strides just in the last couple of years.
There are a lot of unknowns at this time. What we do know is that we will be staying in Cincinnati for the entirety of his treatment as the hospital here is the best suited and most experienced.
Darren does not know if he will be able to continue working in some capacity at this time. There will be a lot of expenses as we are away from home (lodging, gas, food, plane tickets, etc.) on top of our expenses in Wisconsin.
We are grateful for any and all support, even if it is just sharing Bennet’s story among your friends, families, and social circle.
We will do our best to update Bennet’s progress as we can. Please keep our amazing 8-year-old boy in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate the fight against cancer again.
Thank you,
