My friend Baljeet has spent the last 15 years helping people in Bolton as an osteopath. She was there for my family when my own dad was dying of cancer. Now she is the one who needs help because, like so many others, the system has failed her, and she is fighting for her life.

My name is Melissa, and I am writing this because I love Baljeet and I do not want to see her go through this alone.

For months she went to the hospital in terrible pain and was sent home again and again. By the time she was finally diagnosed with cervical cancer in June 2023, it had already advanced. She went through brutal chemo and radiation that left her burned and bedridden, but she fought through it and even went back to work part time by January 2024.

In October 2024 she started having trouble breathing. Doctors told her it was not cancer and to wait. By July 2025, the truth came out and the cancer had spread to her lung. She is now stage four.

On top of this, Baljeet also has thyroid cancer. A nodule on her thyroid showed up on CT scans for years but was overlooked until recently. After finally being noticed and biopsied, it was confirmed cancerous, and she is now scheduled for thyroid surgery in September 2025.

Baljeet is a single mom raising two girls. She has already been through more than most of us could imagine, and now on top of fighting for her life, she has to figure out how to pay for treatments. She is pursuing every option, medical, naturopathic, supportive therapies, because this is her only chance.

It breaks my heart that someone who has given so much to others has to carry this burden. I have seen firsthand the kindness and healing she has brought to so many people in our community. Now she needs us.
