Amanda was recently diagnosed with Stage IV aggressive pancreatic, liver, colon, and ovarian cancer. Soon after her diagnosis, they discovered multiple pulmonary embolisms in her lungs and she had to get an emergency thrombectomy. At a follow up appointment she learned she had ovarian cancer, and it was the probable origination of the of cancer. The doctors say this cancer is rare and aggressive and it effects less than 5% of people with ovarian cancer.
She's been in and out of the hospital multiple times dealing with complications caused by the cancer. Unfortunately, she was intubated after calling 911 on April 1st due to being unable to catch her breath. The blood clots caused by the cancer had traveled to her lungs. She's been on blood thinners for well over a month now so most of them have dissipated or shrank in size. She's back home with her family and ready to tackle the challenges ahead.
Next up, the oncologist teams have decided on a proper chemo cocktail after finally nailing down the origin of the cancer. She's had two rounds of chemo so far resulting in some shrinkage of the cancer. She's a great candidate for several clinical trials due to her age, strength and rarity of this cancer.
As you can imagine, this news has been heartbreaking for her family and everyone who loves her. Amanda is focusing her strength on what matters most, spending meaningful time with her three children and loved ones.
Those who know Amanda, know her resilience. As a veteran, she has already faced challenges with courage and determination, and she is bringing that same spirit into this fight. But no one should have to face something like this alone. Anything you can give to help her family through this difficult time is greatly appreciated.
Let's surround Amanda with the same strength, hope, and healing that she has always given to others.
