Hello my name is Amanda Dobbs, I am asking for assistance with building a privacy fence to stop the harassment from my next door neighbor.

Here is my story:

I bought a house a year ago no knowledge of a shared sewer line that is illegal. The day I closed on my home he and his wife came over. He cussed me and yelled at me I went to get my phone to call the police, I’d already asked him to leave. This is literally the day I closed on the house. He calmed down a little and I had got my phone and recorded everything from that point forward. He and his wife told me they had purchased their home in 2016 and were told they’d have to disconnect and get their own sewer line I have this recorded and everything. However he did not. My home was built in the 60s and his was built In the late 90s. The original owners son said in the 80s they had sewer ran to my house then when his mom built the new home they ran her line down and connected it to my sewer line.

So four weeks after buying my home I received papers in the mail that I was being sued for an easement. That supposedly I had denied them access to fix their clogged sewer which never happened and the sewer was never clogged because we have the same line. Also to date they have never had the line serviced.

This man has filmed me planting flowers, doing yard work, repeatedly threatened me his dog would bite and continues to parade him up and down the boundary line, carried a hammer up and down the properly line for no reason. I filed harassment t charges and no contact. They lost the paperwork twice before service him a citation.

He had bragged multiple times his brother is a retired state trooper and his son-in-law a deputy at Newport.

I spent over 15,000 in lawyer fees and had countless witness and evidence and the judge decided not to hear my side but to give him the easement. So now I will have to put in a sewer line if nothing changes. Plus continue being harassed by this man.

I did nothing but buy a home. I did the inspection, had everything done I was suppose to. Had title insurance which I found is worthless. So all I can say is it’s disheartening what should have been a happy time for me as a home owner has been a nightmare that doesn’t end.

I try and remind myself that vengeance isn’t mine but Gods and in the end he will have to answer for all this but I am very tired of it. There seems no laws that help an innocent person. Harassment still continues.
