Allison Thompson is a friend of mine who recently lost her husband to cancer. One Friday, she returned home from work, and he had a conversation about being tired of feeling sick and was really ready to stop suffering. Allison, distraught by this conversation, called for professional assistance. Allison and her husband Michael were completely unaware that he was full of cancer!

After doctors ran tests, it became obvious to them that not only were his lungs full of cancer, but his brain and kidneys as well. Within less than 17 days, he was diagnosed and gone. Allison stayed by his side and was there as he took his last breath.

She is grateful to have been able to be with him as he transitioned, but is deeply grieved with his passing. She was granted 3 days of grievance pay, but has missed a month of work due to the circumstances.
