Stand with Alicia in Breonn's Battle
Donation protected
In the beginning of June, grief and tragedy struck the Dixon family. Single-mother and sole provider, Alicia Dixon, was faced with the challenge of her young 14-year-old son, Breonn, requiring surgery and a hospital stay at Rady’s intensive care unit. Breonn was out riding his bike with his friends, something he often did and loved to do, when he was struck by a vehicle in a residential area. The vehicle was speeding around a corner when the incident occurred. His friends and other eye witnesses state that it appeared that the car sped up behind and hit Breonn. The driver got out of the car, approached young Breonn, and demanded that he state he was 18 years old. Breonn pleaded with the driver to call 9-1-1, but the driver refused. Fortunately, his friends were able to act quickly and get the authorities to arrive on the scene. Since that time, he has endured multiple blood transfusions and has an upcoming surgery.
As a devoted mom needing to be by Breonn's side, Alicia has been unable to work and be a caretaker to her other children. This has caused great financial strain and emotional weight, as Alicia is the sole provider for her family.
