Stand with Aimee: Support Her Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Aimee. I’m 26 years old, and I was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in July 2024. After feeling a change in my body for some time, I finally went in for a check-up. Just another regular check-up, I imagined it would turn out to be. I mentioned a lingering cough that I felt uneasy about, so an X-ray of my chest was ordered. That X-ray led to a PET scan, which led to a CT scan, followed by an appointment with an oncologist, who then directed me toward a biopsy—a biopsy of a mass in my chest, 9 × 6.2 cm in size. After what had been months of doctor appointments, bloodwork, scans, and biopsies, I finally had an answer.

Stage 2 Hodgkin's lymphoma cancer. At a follow-up appointment to go over all my results, my oncologist informed me of my diagnosis and began to tell me that, although my fight isn’t going to be easy, he feels confident that I will beat it.

In August, I began my first rounds of chemotherapy—the start of what has been my toughest battle. Chemotherapy is its own beast, and combining that with life in general is a whole different challenge. Having the simplicity of your life taken away and replaced with pain and fear of the unknown, on top of the overwhelming cost of everything, can leave anyone feeling hopeless.

Unfortunately, my original chemotherapy plan wasn’t working as well as my oncologist would have liked. Our next move was to reach out to a specialist at UCSF to figure out what other treatments could be an option. Both my oncologist and the specialist suggested that my best chance of beating the cancer—with a high probability of it not coming back—would be to go through the process of a bone marrow transplant.

This journey isn’t close to being finished, but I am hoping to at least be entering the last hurdle that needs to be passed. I am humbly asking for donations to help with my medical bills, as well as support for my long stay in San Francisco. My stay while getting my bone marrow transplant also includes the recovery period. I will have multiple appointments each week, making my total stay over a month at UCSF.

I truly thank everyone who is able to donate and will forever be thankful for the support that is given. Every share means just as much as a donation; every prayer and well-wish is held close to my heart.
