Our beloved nephew, Abdiqani Mohamed Ali, a 23-year-old brave Somali soldier, was recently caught in a devastating terrorist attack in Puntland, Somalia.

While returning to the city with his fellow soldiers, their vehicle was targeted and bombed by Daesh (an ISIS-affiliated group in Somalia). The explosion tragically took the lives of three soldiers and left nine others critically injured, including Abdiqani.

Abdiqani miraculously survived, but he is now fighting for his life in Mogadishu, suffering from severe third-degree burns that cover much of his body. His condition is critical and requires specialized, long-term medical treatment and rehabilitation.

Unfortunately, the hospital in Mogadishu cannot provide the advanced burn treatment that Abdiqani urgently needs. His doctors have advised that he be transferred to India for specialized care and surgery — a move that will significantly increase his chances of recovery.

As a family, we are doing everything we can to support him, but the medical and travel costs are overwhelming — from emergency care and surgeries to air transport, hospital admission, and rehabilitation expenses.

My name is Yusuf Mohamed. I live and work in Anoka and St. Paul, Minnesota. My older brother Mohamed Ali Omar lives with his family in Burtinle, Puntland, Somalia. Abdiqani is my nephew, my brother's son. Abdiqani joined the Puntland State of Somalia military to protect and serve the people in his state. The Puntland state military have been fighting an ISIS affiliated group in Somalia for several months. My brother informed that Abdiqani was injured in a terrorist attack in Puntland, Somalia on October 9th. Abdiqani was transported to a hospital in Mogadishu, Somalia by his uncle. My brother told me that they are not getting any help from anyone else for Abdiqani’s treatment. The funds raised will only be used for Abdiqani's burn treatment, traveling cost and long-term care. I will send the funds directly to my brother, Mohamed Ali Omar, to ensure Abdiqani gets the immediate treatment and care he needs.
