Stand With a Paralyzed Father Fighting to See His Son

I’m asking for help for my brother Roman.
In late 2018, Roman’s life changed forever after a devastating accident left him paralyzed from the shoulders down. Since then, he has had to rebuild every part of his life while living as a disabled quadriplegic. Through all of that, he has continued trying to be a loving, present father to his two boys, Dimitri and Oleg.

Just a few years after Roman’s accident, his wife’s affair came to light and she shortly after divorced him. The situation surrounding that time was painful, and it marked the beginning of a major breakdown in their family. Roman was left dealing not only with the heartbreak of betrayal and divorce, but also with serious financial pressure involving their home.

Because they owned a home together, Roman was put in a position where he had to come up with a large amount of money within a limited time or risk foreclosure. For someone living on limited SSI and already facing life as a quadriplegic, this was devastating. With help, he eventually managed to refinance and keep the home, but it came at a huge emotional and financial cost.

Under the current court order, Viktoriya has full custody of both boys, and for a period of time Roman continued maintaining visitation with them. Despite the difficulty of his situation, he kept doing everything he could to stay involved and present in their lives.

His older son Dimitri, now 14, has been living with Roman for some time and no longer wants to live with his mother. Dimitri has witnessed and felt the strain of everything that has happened. He wants more emotional stability, and he also wants his younger brother to be able to see their dad.

Right now, the most painful situation involves Oleg. Since the beginning of March, right after Oleg’s 10th birthday, Viktoriya suddenly stopped bringing him to Roman and has continued blocking opportunities for father and son to see each other, including through school and sports activities. Roman has repeatedly tried to communicate, understand what changed, and resolve things peacefully, but Viktoriya has not cooperated and has largely stopped responding. Even the limited ways Roman has tried to stay connected have been restricted.

The boys have also had to live through ongoing instability since the divorce, including multiple boyfriends in their mother’s life, which has been emotionally hard on them.

Roman is not asking for anything unreasonable. He wants a fair chance to remain in his sons’ lives and protect the relationship they already have with him. He now needs legal representation to pursue a parenting plan modification, child support modification, and emergency relief to restore contact with Oleg as soon as possible.

Because Roman is disabled and survives on limited income, lawyer fees are simply too much for him to carry alone.

If you feel led to help, any donation or share would mean so much. I’m his brother, and I’m asking on his behalf. Your support will go directly toward legal expenses as Roman fights to protect his relationship with his sons.

Thank you for caring, praying, and supporting Roman during this painful season.
