# Help the Families of 71 Bhotekoshi Flood Victims

Bhotekoshi Samaj in America is raising funds to support the families of 71 members of the Bhotekoshi community who went missing during the devastating flood in Nepal and are now presumed dead.

Bhotekoshi is located along the Arniko Highway near the Nepal–Tibet border. Following the devastating earthquake of April 25, 2015, the border crossing was closed for an extended period. Many local people who had worked as drivers, drivers’ assistants, porters, and tourist guides lost their regular sources of income.

To provide for their families, many traveled to the Rasuwa border area in search of work. Tragically, 71 hardworking members of our community were caught in the recent flood and are now presumed to have lost their lives.

Because the flooding occurred outside Bhotekoshi, the victims’ families living in the Bhotekoshi area have received limited emergency relief and public attention. They urgently need our support.

Most of the victims were the sole providers for their families. Many have left behind wives with two or more children who are now facing severe financial hardship. One victim’s wife is pregnant and expecting to give birth very soon.

We are raising funds to help these families with their most urgent needs, including:

These victims were hardworking members of our society who contributed to Nepal’s economy and tourism industry. They carried luggage for international visitors, transported people and goods, and worked tirelessly to support their families. Their sudden loss has left their loved ones facing unimaginable grief and financial uncertainty.

With the assistance of community leaders in Nepal, we have collected and verified information about the victims and their immediate family members. The funds will be distributed based on each family’s needs.

We are committed to complete transparency. We will provide updates showing how the funds are distributed, including receipts, photographs, videos, and a record of every expense.
