Jacob is a vibrant, funny 20 year old young man playing baseball at Mars Hill college in North Carolina. He is always the life of the party but has such a kind and gentle soul. Like any 20 year boy (I have one of my own) he noticed a lump on his testical two weeks ago, but it didn't hurt. So like many invincible young men it didn't hurt so it didn't matter. That was not to be the case.

Primary testicular tumors are the most common solid malignant tumor in men 20 to 35 years of age in the United States. Testicular cancer is aggressive and curable. There are 9,000 new cases diagnosed every year. Jacob noticed a small painless testicular lump 2 weeks ago. That is how fast growing this cancer is for men. We have heard from many of you how special Jacob is, and when it comes to cancer he is no exception. He has Choriocarcinoma. This is very rare and aggressive with a survival rate of 50% where other types of testicular cancer have a survival rate of 96%.

Jacob told his mom a few days ago, to stand up. She replied "I am standing up," which he then replied "keep standing up." She looked puzzled until Jacob explained to her it was from a talk he listened to awhile back. Jacob said the man giving the speech had lost his wife to breast cancer and his father kept telling him through their fight together to stand up.

Mike was standing at Jacob's beside holding Jacob's hand while he rested. Mike rested his head on the railing and Jacob opened his eyes to see him, and Jacob replied to him "Pick your head up dad. Hold your head up and don't put it down." Even in his worst hours, Jacob has shown he is a fighter.
