STAND UP FOR DEB

Our dear friend and colleague, Deborah Sanders has been an elementary school teacher for over 19 years. She is a loving and involved mother of three wonderful children -- two in college and one in high school. When she’s not wearing her "teacher hat," Mrs. Sanders enjoys playing volleyball, going camping, and being the leader of her daughter’s Girl Scout troop. Her active life style came to an abrupt halt on January 18, 2018 when she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.  Unfortunately, the doctors fear the cancer has spread to her intestines and liver. On January 22, 2018 she had surgery to remove the tumor. During the surgery they also did a biopsy on her liver. Her doctors will put a chemo therapy port in her chest a few days after surgery to allow her some time to heal. She will begin chemo therapy as soon as she is able.  

Mrs. Sanders is an incredibly strong woman and will fight with everything she has to be cancer free. Right now she needs our help.  She may not be able to return to work for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year and medical bills are quickly growing.  This GoFundMe page is being created for financial assistance to help relieve the stress of those bills for her and her family.

Nuestra querida amiga y colega, Deborah Sanders ha sido maestra por más de 19 años. Ella es madre de tres maravillosos hijos, dos de ellos actualmente cursando la universidad y una en preparatoria. Cuando Mrs. Sanders no está en la escuela, ella pasa sus ratos jugando volleyball, acampando y siendo la líder de la tropa de Girl Scouts a la que su hija pertenece. Su estilo de vida se enfrentó a un abrupto cambio cuando el 18 de enero de 2018 fue diagnosticada con cáncer de colon. Desafortunadamente, los doctores indicaron que dicho cáncer se había esparcido hacia el  hígado y los intestinos. Por esta razón, el 22 de enero de 2018 fue sometida a una cirugía para remover el tumor y tomar una biopsia de su hígado. Días después de la cirugía, los doctores le implantaran un puerto para que empiece a recibir quimioterapias en cuanto su recuperación de la cirugía esté completa. 

Mrs. Sanders es una persona muy fuerte que está dispuesta a luchar contra esta terrible enfermedad. Durante este tiempo, ella no va a poder regresar a trabajar con su clase de kindergarten por lo que resta del ciclo escolar 2017-2018. Sabemos que las cuentas médicas están creciendo rápidamente, es por eso que decidimos crear esta página para ayudar económicamente a ella y a su familia.
