Two months ago, our beloved Elizabeth Marchetti Dembinski, who is just 28 years old, was rushed to the hospital and placed on life support after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest caused by a pulmonary embolism—a blood clot that traveled to her lungs. She immediately required the highest level of life support, ECMO, for several days. During this time, Elizabeth received intensive care from multiple ICU teams and specialists, was on and off a ventilator, underwent multiple rounds of dialysis, and endured countless tests to address all clots and complications. As a result of this traumatic event, Elizabeth’s brain, heart, lungs, and kidneys have all experienced serious complications. She has needed highly specialized care for over two months, and while she is now moving toward longer-term rehabilitation, the road ahead remains long and uncertain.

Throughout this ordeal, Elizabeth’s wonderful family—including her incredibly supportive husband, Jacob, and her mother, Jen—have rarely left her side. They travel to and from the hospital daily, which has severely disrupted their work schedules, created a mountain of expenses, and upended every aspect of their lives. The holidays are upon us, and they will surely be spending most of their time in the hospital with Elizabeth.
