Stand by Yolanda in Her Time of Need

My name is Veronica and I am writing to ask you to help support our dear friend and colleague, Yolanda Rivera. Yolie has been a dedicated speech-language pathologist with YISD for 25 years. Her loving and tender way of working with her students, parents, and colleagues is well known.

She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022. She received radiation treatment and achieved remission. It is with great sadness she just revealed her cancer has metastasized to her bones and possibly her liver.

She has started chemotherapy, but her complete treatment plan is pending her liver diagnosis. As if this was not hard enough, she shared with me that her husband was diagnosed with an aggressive type of cancer in 2023. He is currently in remission but is being monitored with full-body scans and phlebotomy treatments every 6 months.

All these medical treatments and procedures have impacted the family both emotionally and financially. Yolie was hoping to return to work; however, since starting her chemotherapy, she has found herself completely physically and mentally drained. She is a woman of great faith and strength, but at this point, she is in need of help.

My hope is for our YISD family to come together, as we have done in the past, and send our love and financial support to assist them in their time of need. Any little bit will help! With great gratitude, I thank you in anticipation of your contributions!
