Hello Family and Friends,

My name is Jaquetta Venable, and I'm the daughter of Walter M. Alton. I'm sure that many of you know that my dad has been dealing with stage 4 cancer beginning back in 2019 up to now. Needless to say, my dad is a fighter. After 2 years of chemo and radiation, recent test results revealed that there is still cancer in his esophagus, right at his stomach.

His oncologist informed us that the only way to get rid of the cancer is with an esophageal and gastric surgery. My dad has not worked for some months now and won't be for a while. He is scheduled for surgery tomorrow on June 30th at the Orlando Regional Medical Center. The estimated timeline for the surgery is about 8 hours. Upon a successful surgery, he will be in the hospital for about 10 days and have an 8-to-10-week recovery time at home.
