Walter Carter, the man who helped a community literally keep moving, needs help in return. In September, he was unexpectedly hit with a heart attack and has been on the mend since. After Christmas, he started having complications and was rushed to the ER on 12/28. He was transported to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where he learned the extent of the troubles he is facing.
He is working his butt off, per the usual, to get himself home to his loving wife, Debby, and family. There are barriers to cross and things that need to be put in place in order to get him home safely.
The financial burden of any medical emergency is always taxing on people. We are reaching out to the community and surrounding communities to help ease the financial burden. Thinking about all the many people Walt has helped over the 33 years he was the only mechanic to get it done right. Always finding time and space to help everyone he could. He even spent 25 years as a firefighter, volunteering his time to ensure others were safe when his family waited at home for him to return safe, and just retired November 29th, 2024... all these amazing gifts he bestowed to his community, hopefully his community remembers and is willing and able to help him when he needs it most.
All funds will be used for the direct care and afterlife expenses to ensure Walt has what he needs to feel the best he can with the time he has left!
If you would prefer, the fire station in Stacyville, Iowa is accepting donations on Walt's behalf as well.
