Help Victor and family: Stroke - ER And Recovery Bills
Donation protected

Hello, I’m Victor Fernandez. I started this fund raiser for myself. It’s challenging for me to start this campaign as I’m not accustomed to asking for help. We are usually the family rushing to support friends and family, but when I find myself in need, I tend to manage things on my own.
On April 13th, I found myself in the hospital after waking up with a significant lack of mobility on one side of my body. I was faced with finding answers to what was happening to me. I learned that I had experienced multiple strokes affecting both sides of my brain. The three days I spent in the hospital resulted in a bill exceeding $30,000, even after receiving some discounts, we are still faced with bill of around $20,000. As the main provider for my family, this was an incredibly tough situation to cope with. Not only was I the primary earner, but my recovery from the strokes also meant I was unable to work for a month. With our expenses increasing and our finances dwindling, the weight of this burden was heavy on my shoulders.
Although I felt thankful to be alive, I struggled with negative thoughts creeping in. People who know me understand that I am typically a source of positivity during difficult times. I extend my hand to help others, always aiming to lift their spirits with encouraging words. Yet, during this personal battle, I found myself consumed by fears and doubts. Questions filled my mind—Will I ever regain full mobility? Will I be able to walk, use my hands as I once did, or run again? The fear of potentially becoming a burden to my family grew increasingly overwhelming.
Since leaving the hospital, I’ve had to have a heart monitor fitted on my chest, attend physical therapy sessions twice a week, and keep numerous appointments with specialists. The Doctors haven't found the cause to the stroke which means more Doctor visits to pin point the underlying problem. Consequently, our medical expenses continue to rise, and I have yet to fully recover.
I’ve repeatedly heard that my progress at the one-year mark will dictate my long-term recovery, which motivates me to put my all into physical therapy and adhere strictly to my doctor’s recommendations.
As a devoted family man, I believe that true happiness comes from my loved ones rather than material possessions like toys or luxury cars. My family and friends bring me joy, many of you have asked how can you help and this has caused me to start this gofundme.
My aspiration is to be a vibrant and healthy grandparent for my future grandchildren. It has always been my dream to be live long enough to see grandkids and be actively involved in their lives.
Any donation, no matter the size is greatly appreciated as every contribution makes a difference. If you could also share this fundraiser with your loved ones, I would greatly appreciate it.
I also want to thank everyone who has reached out, your kind words have encouraged me and my family. The prayers having been felt. Thank you for your support.
