Hi my name is Tara, My sister Brianna and I are doing a fundraiser on behalf of our step father Scott and mother Ruth who just beat her battle against stage 3 breast cancer less than 2 years ago. Just a little over 2 weeks ago our step dad who’s been in our lives for 28 years suddenly had a siezure and lost his ability to form words or speak my mother thankfully was right there when it happened and called 911! The doctors at Albany medical center did a CT scan and ran a whole bunch of tests, the CT scan came back that he had a tumor on the fronter left lobe of his brain the medical team ended up doing a biopsy of the tumor and it came back cancerous stage 3 Astrocytoma, unfortunately his insurance doesn’t cover all in which treatments he needs such as radiation , chemo therapy, scans, at home care, medical equipment, medications, speech/physical therapy, transportation, co pays for doctor visits/medical bills. This has been extremely hard on our mother Ruth (including all of us) who herself is still paying on her behalf of her prior breast cancer treatment as they have built up over the 5 years of her long battle ! He is the rock of my mother’s life we can’t loose him! He walked me down the isle at my wedding, he is my eldest daughter who is 8 years old best friend her “papa”, he has other younger grandchildren who love him dearly as well as we do! He’s helped my sister Brianna during one of the hardest times of her life!This is destroying our mother who is still gaining her strength back as is, he helped her so much with her cancer and treatments ect as he has all of us, and now we need to try and help him the best we can.
