Troy is a proud U.S. Army veteran who served his country with honor for six years. During his time in the military, he was active during wartime and deployed from New Jersey to New Orleans to the jungles of Panama. He answered every call to serve with courage, strength, and dedication.
Today, Troy is facing the greatest battle of his life — Stage 4 cancer. He is now on hospice at home, where he wishes to remain, surrounded by love and comfort. Once nearly six feet tall and strong, Troy now weighs around 100 pounds. Though his body is weakened, his spirit remains deeply loved by those who know him.
By his side every step of the way is his wife of 31 years, April. For the past 11 months, April has been Troy’s full-time caregiver, tending to him around the clock. She gives his medication every four hours, bathes him, feeds him, comforts him, and does everything he needs with unwavering devotion and love. Because of this, April has not been able to work — and after nearly a year without income, their savings have nearly run out.
April recently reached out to the VA to learn about compensation for being Troy’s caregiver, but the help they need is urgent and immediate.
This fundraiser is being created to help relieve the financial burden Troy and April are carrying. Donations will go toward basic living expenses, medical supplies, and giving April the ability to stay by Troy’s side without worrying about how they’ll make ends meet.
If you’re able to give, no matter the amount, your support will make a meaningful difference. And if you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this with others.
Troy served his country with honor — and now, he and April need their community’s support more than ever. Thank you for your kindness and compassion.
