Hi everyone,
Before anyone asks about pet insurance – we do have it. Unfortunately, most pet insurance companies don’t cover pre‑existing conditions, and because Toby has had some GI issues in the past, our plan will not cover much of this emergency care.
My name is Jessica, and I’m posting this on behalf of my twin sister, Jasmine, and her handsome boy Toby.
Toby is a 5‑year‑old German Shepherd who loves hiking and exploring nature with his mom. He’s always been Jasmine’s best adventure buddy – they especially love their hikes at River Bend Nature Center.
Last Friday, July 18, Toby suddenly wasn’t feeling well during a hike. He became woozy, stopped eating and drinking, and just wasn’t himself. Jasmine took him to the vet the next day, July 19. His bloodwork at the time looked okay, so the vet prescribed antibiotics and anti‑nausea medication.
For a few days, it was up and down – he’d seem better, then crash again. By July 26, Toby worsened. He wasn’t drinking water, could barely walk, and just looked so sick. Jasmine rushed him back to the vet, where new bloodwork showed his white cell count had increased and the medications weren’t helping.
The vet believes this could be a serious GI issue, an autoimmune condition, or even cancer. They recommended admitting him to Oakdale Emergency Hospital, where he’s now hospitalized on IV fluids and supportive care while we wait for an abdominal ultrasound on Monday to figure out what’s wrong.
This has all happened so suddenly, and the costs for emergency hospitalization, tests, and treatment are overwhelming. We want to give Toby every possible chance to recover, but we need help.
The funds will go directly toward:
• Emergency hospitalization care
• IV fluids, medications, and monitoring
• Bloodwork and diagnostics
• Monday’s abdominal ultrasound
Toby is Jasmine’s world. He’s the most loyal, loving dog who just wants to be by her side on every adventure. Seeing him like this is heartbreaking, but we believe he deserves the chance to fight through this.
We’ll keep updating you with how Toby is doing, including photos and copies of bills, so you can see exactly how your support is helping.
If you can help in any way – whether by donating, sharing this page, or just keeping Toby in your thoughts and prayers – it means the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting Toby through this scary time.
