Finley’s GoFundMe

With Paige’s permission, this GoFundMe has been created to support the Parker family as they face one of the most difficult challenges imaginable.

Paige and Joe were already loving parents to two young boys, Riley and Perry, when they joyfully learned they were expecting a third baby boy. At 20 weeks, they leaned that baby Finley had a heart defect. He was diagnosed with a serious congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome (HRHS) with tricuspid atresia. This condition means that the right side of his heart, including the tricuspid valve and right ventricle, is underdeveloped or missing, making it difficult for his heart to pump blood to his lungs and resulting in dangerously low oxygen levels.

The remainder of Paige’s pregnancy was filled with uncertainty, as doctors couldn’t predict how severe Finley’s condition would be.

Finley David Parker was born January 23, 2025. He arrived relatively stable and transferred to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital. Paige and Joe were initially told it would be a few days before Finley would decline and require his first surgery. Shortly after Finley’s arrival to LeBonheur, an echocardiogram revealed his condition was worse than expected and things escalated quickly. Finley’s heart was not responding to the medications that were suppose to keep him stable for a few days before needing surgery. He rapidly declined requiring intubation and bedside surgery to be placed on ECMO. Finley then had his first of three staged surgeries at 17 hours old, the BTT shunt.

During his second week of life, Finley’s shunt clotted off requiring another bedside surgery to clear the shunt and then he was taken to the cath lab to ensure the clot was fully gone. During his third week of life, his RA line migrated filling his chest cavity with his meds causing his lung to collapse and a cardiac arrest. Finley’s medical team was able to bring him back with chest compressions and another emergent bedside surgery to clear the chest cavity and fix the migrated line. Due to multiple surgeries in his chest and traumatic events, Finley developed chylothorax requiring multiple chest tubes to drain the fluid build up from around his lungs and continuous product replacements to keep his body functioning. At a little over four weeks old, Finley went for yet another surgery in a final attempt to address the complications of chylothorax. It is not exactly clear what has helped the chylothorax but something helped to turn a corner and Finley began to make a little progress. Then, elevated heart rates and high fevers with no answers to why kept Finley in a stand still for almost 3 weeks. It was discovered Finley had been fighting mono!

Finley’s tiny body has required heavy sedation and numerous medications. His journey has been filled with both hopeful progress and heartbreaking setbacks—but Finley continues to fight, and we believe his life has a beautiful purpose.

Paige was unable to take a traditional maternity leave. Instead, she spent her days by Finley’s side in the hospital. Eventually, she had to make the heartbreaking decision to return to work early to save her remaining FMLA weeks and help support the family financially. She and Joe have since had to juggle caring for their other two sons, managing their jobs, and taking turns staying in Memphis with Finley.

This has meant splitting their time—one parent at home, one at the hospital—and constantly traveling back and forth, all while navigating the emotional and financial toll of a medically complex child. Medical bills, travel expenses, time off work, and daily living costs continue to mount.
