Give the Gift of Time: Help Terri Be with Rick

As many of you know, my stepdad, Rick, has been fighting a long and difficult battle with Non-Alcoholic Cirrhosis, hoping for a life-saving liver transplant at Mayo Clinic. After years of waiting and countless hospital stays, he was finally about to go before the transplant board for approval. But just days before that critical moment, a routine biopsy revealed devastating news—cancer in his pancreas. With this diagnosis, Rick is no longer eligible for a transplant, and treatment options are extremely limited.

Rick has been in and out of the hospital since 2018, enduring numerous treatments in the hope of extending his life. Through it all, he and my mom, Terri, have exhausted their savings, dedicating everything they had to this fight.

Now, we face an uncertain future. We don’t know how much time Rick has left, but we do know that every good day is precious. More than anything, Terri wants to be by his side—to make memories, to care for him, and to cherish the time they have left together. Unfortunately, she has no remaining sick days and will be forced to take unpaid leave under FMLA, making it impossible to take time away from work without financial strain.

We’re asking for your help to give Terri the ability to take time off so she can be with Rick this spring and summer. Your support will help relieve the financial burden and allow them to focus on what truly matters—time together.
