Stand by Steven K

I am setting up a Gofundme for our Queen City courier, and friend Steve Kuzara. Steven participated in the Cycle Messenger World Championships this year which made us all proud here in Buffalo. He did well in the race considering it is quite complicated and he’d never done it before. He also kicked a lot of butt in the foot-down competition. We were amazed and everyone was excited. Unfortunately, at his next competition, he took a hard spill, hitting his head and getting knocked out. Now he is faced with some steep medical bills which are compounded by the fact that he couldn’t get back to work right away. Head injuries are the worst! He’s doing a lot better, but out of an abundance of caution, he’s trying to be careful, which is limiting.

A lot of you wanted to know how he was doing and who was there when it happened, and we appreciate your concern. Spirit was generous and in some cases, schwag that you shared with us. I hope you can contribute to this fund a little bit to help Steven out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Steven’s message:

“To my friends, family, and others through the string of kindness; I am asking for help in my troubling circumstance of health. While participating in a contest on my bicycle I crashed, lost consciousness and regained cognitive ability a few hours after the incident. This traumatic brain injury compounds with others I have suffered in the past and recovery has been a challenge. For weeks I have been unable to ride a bicycle. Headaches with sensitivities impede me from having proper conversations or living my life with normality and my work also being limited. I am asking for financial help as medical bills are arriving and doctor visits are ongoing, along with items that went missing while I was unconscious were an unexpected loss. Special thanks to Nat, Andy and all first responders to my crash, Rebecca for being in the ambulance, and my loving partner Sophie for constant support.
