Hi, my name is Laura, and I’m writing this with a heavy heart as I try to help my dear friend, Solange, whom I’ve been friends with since middle school, navigate the many uncertainties that life is currently throwing her way. Last month, Solange’s life changed in an instant when someone ran a red light and slammed into her SUV. The impact totaled her vehicle and left her with serious injuries. Solange’s arm is literally imprinted with the Toyota logo from the steering wheel. She is also dealing with ongoing neck, shoulder and back pain and frightening symptoms like numbness and tingling down her arms and legs.
Solange will be undergoing multiple MRIs and evaluations to understand the full extent of the damage.
Beyond the physical injuries, this has understandably taken a huge toll on her mental health. Solange has been feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and like she has lost control of her life. Before the accident, Solange was working full-time as a driver for Lyft and Uber, while she continued to look for other job opportunities. It was not only her income—but her independence, as well. Now, with no car and no ability to work, she has lost all of her income and she is falling behind on bills.
I worry about what the future holds for Solange. She’s not someone who likes to ask for help, but the truth is, she can’t do this alone. I’m trying to help Solange raise funds to cover:
• Basic living expenses (rent, bills, groceries) and transportation to and from doctors
Solange has always been a kind, loving and selfless soul- someone who would give her last dollar without hesitation if it meant helping someone else. She even started an adventure group on Facebook that brought people together to connect, explore and celebrate life. Her generous heart and unwavering spirit has touched so many lives. Watching the community grow and pouring her heart into making it a safe, uplifting space for everyone, has brought her so much joy.
Sadly, Solange has had to pause the group and much of the life she once loved. These days, she feels like she’s watching the world move on without her - stuck on the sidelines, unable to fully participate and function the way she used to. It breaks my heart to see someone so full of life now struggling just to get through the day. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her the ways she’s always shown up for others.
If you're able to help in any way—whether by donating, sharing this page, or simply sending some kind words—it would mean the world to Solange. Truly.
Thank you for being here, for caring, and for helping my friend get through this incredibly difficult chapter.
With deep gratitude, Laura
