Stand By My Mom - Crohn's Warrior
This is my Mom...
She has been battling Crohn's and Colitis ever since before I was born, over 16 years ago. With two previous surgeries behind her and years of remission in between, she's now dealing with an entirely new problem -- A mass in her anal canal that (was) causing partial intestinal and bowel blockage.
On June 5th, my mom went in for a third procedure -- a Colostomy Placement. This was necessary to stop the threat of an intestinal
obstruction, that could have (potentially) killed her!
A second biopsy was done and after 3 grueling days, the surgeon came
in to tell us that the results did not find the mass to be cancerous. It is
an inflammation due to the Crohn's. But not out of
the woods yet...
Mom doesn't have insurance. And Medicaid is such a pain to qualify for.
She's gathered all the information and paperwork they need to see if
she can get assistance but there's still no guarantee.
She HAS to have treatment for the mass and a colonoscopy to further
evaluate any other problems that may be hiding in her colon. The
surgeon told her they won't be able to reverse the Colostomy without
it.
Mom is also (currently) not working and hasn't since before she went into the hospital, at the beginning of June. Bills are coming in the mail and I know she's used up most of her savings already to keep them current. I don't have my driver's license yet and so I can't help out except
around the house.
Without knowing when she'll be able to return to work, or if she'll be
able to get medical assistance to go see a Gastro Dr, I'm worried that
she's not going to have the money to keep paying the bills. If I raise
enough money tho, hopefully she will have enough to go see a Gastro
Dr, also. But I'm hopeful Medicaid will approve her so that won't be
another issue to stress out about.
Please help me, help my Mom. Anything you can give, to help take the
burden off of her while she's down.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this.
