When really good people could use some help from a grateful community- please consider donating all you can! We need your help!
“I have known Blake Wootten for two decades. He and his wife Sheila are well known, and appreciated in our town of Seward, Alaska. Both have been active members in this community and forces for good.
Sheila has worked as a Caregiver for 30 years. She has comforted more people than we can know in the last hours of their lives. She has provided care to elders and disabled community members. But, as a mortal, that big heart has had physical problems over the years that she and Blake have had to deal with. They have fought hard. Recently, her condition became critical, and she was medevacked to Anchorage. On May 22nd they did a 12-hour-long open-heart surgery on her. She survived, began to improve, but then had another problem developed that brought her (and Blake) back to Providence Hospital in Anchorage one week after coming home. Together, they have lived there for 29 days and counting. They hope to go home soon, and that will be the beginning of a long recovery.
These good people could use some help with this overwhelming financial burden. Even with good insurance, Blake’s employer leave has been used up, and income is on hold. Travel and lodging were not covered. The on-going recovery and extensive home care needs are daunting. The phrase ‘There but for the Grace of God, go I’ comes to mind.
Any generous contribution to this campaign would be enormously appreciated.”- Brandon Anderson
