Hi all.
My name is Shawn, and I am from Duluth, MN. After a moderate bout of liver disease, I received the gift of a new liver on April 29. However, I remain hospitalized until I am medically cleared for release to an apartment near the University of MN Medical Center in Minneapolis.
While I am lucky that I have excellent insurance and our apartment here will be covered, there are additional expenses that I ask for a little help in covering. Being so far from home for at least 30 days after my discharge, most of these are comfort items: activities, games, etc. But, there's also the idea of having to keep a little reserve to cover last-minute expenses.
While I have the support of my family, they shouldn't need to cover my expenses. But, being unable to work at the moment and for the foreseeable future, I also need a little financial help.
So, if you can, chip in $5 or whatever makes you comfortable. If you can't, that's ok, too. I also accept prayers for a speedy recovery and phone calls and texts from those of you I know.
Thanks to everyone who offers support and, together, we will all come out the other side feeling good.
*Note: I plan to keep track of all donors and any money not used in the next six months will be returned prorated.

Update: May 9, 2025:
I have been released from the hospital! I’ve been out for a few days now, and I am starting to feel better everyday. Thanks for all the warm wishes, the flowers, and the donations here. It means more than you know. I’ll update when something new happens. —Shawn
