This request comes from a place of need in our time of crisis. If you know Saunya, you already know she is the first person to answer a call for help. She gives everything she has to keeping her family loved and cared for. She is a person of great resolve and moves mountains when it comes to friends and family. She has opened her doors, pantry, and arms to so many people during their time of need that the merits are immeasurable. Today, she has difficulty keeping up with the very gardens she has nurtured with the same care as her own children.

Saunya is mother to six children, grandmother to three, caregiver to her own mother and brother, was the primary caregiver to her own grandmother, and a loving spouse. She has sacrificed most of her years on this earth to caring for her loved ones. She was the provider of live-in care and treatment for her grandmother with progressing dementia over nine years until her death at 92 years old in 2023. She presently gives increasing care to her own mother and brother. Her two underage children are also in her care at home and her four adult children are responsible and contributing members of their communities. Her husband, Frank, is a stage rigging staff coordinator with a lengthy career history in hands-on rigging in the entertainment industry. He is a hard-working breadwinner, loving and present father, and overwhelmingly positive supporter and provider of his spouse’s every need.

We are starting this GoFundMe for the second time in the face of a second bout of what will be a lengthy battle for health, balance, and our family’s greatest anchor. Saunya is, as always, reluctant to allow a plea for help as she does not believe her medical bills should be anyone else’s problem. It is a shame that such devastating news comes with such devastating financial cost. She, at last, is surely the person in greater need of support.

Saunya was previously diagnosed with stage IV cervical cancer that was seen throughout her torso and even in her neck. After a bonified miracle of a first battle over 6 months of chemo treatment she was pronounced No Evidence of Disease (NED)! As is the standard with this disease, however, she has kept up with her routine PET scans and the latest has shown signs of the cancer returning. Her primary doctor’s office is now very optimistic about this round of treatment and will be going through with a TivDac based treatment plan.

Even with only these early steps being taken, the medical bills linger from last time and remain a cumbersome burden. We will continue to manage these costs as best we can as a family, but we continue to struggle making ends meet with the current outstanding balance, let alone this addition. Our goal with this GoFundMe page is the same as last time; To alleviate the stressors of financial burden as we navigate these new challenges. The funds received will be used to keep Saunya’s house running, pantry full, and hopefully have an impact on the impending medical costs.

The number chosen as the goal for this GoFundMe is far from what it will take to come out of this situation debt-free. It is, instead, the resource we hope will provide Saunya comfort while our family focuses on the emotional, physical, and loving support that is needed in her time of need. We want nothing more than to return the level of care that our family's center has given to her children, husband, and multiple generations of family throughout our lives.
