Help Support Sandra, our Friend, Neighbor and Constant Gardener
Last October, our dear friend and neighbor Sandra Lefemine suffered a devastating fall that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. She spent four months hospitalized at NY Presbyterian, followed by intensive rehabilitation in Riverdale. Her recovery was slow but steady—until another medical crisis on June 8 forced her back into the hospital, once again under the care of NYP’s neurology department.
If you’ve walked along Cabrini Boulevard, or through the Heather Garden in Fort Tryon Park, chances are you’ve seen Sandra—or more likely, the beautiful legacy she’s cultivated. Sandra started a neighborhood movement to transform neglected tree beds into vibrant flower gardens, she weeded sidewalks, she cared for the beautiful roses outside Buunni on Pinehurst Avenue. Her tireless work brought color, life, and joy to our streets.
She’s also been a beloved and trusted dog walker and cat-sitter, known for her extraordinary care and kindness. Pet owners always looked forward to her daily photo updates of their furry friends while they were away. Sandra’s deep compassion and generous spirit have touched so many lives in our community.
Now, she needs our help.
Sandra has not yet been approved for long term care with Medicaid and the financial burden on her family is enormous. We’re launching this GoFundMe campaign to help ease that stress and support Sandra on her long road to recovery.
Please consider making a contribution—any amount truly helps. Let’s come together as a community to give back to someone who has given so much to us.
With gratitude,
Friends and Neighbors of Sandra Lefemine
