As parents (Bob & Debbie Simon) of Rob Simon, along with Rob’s girlfriend, Megan, we are here to ask for your help.
As parents, there is nothing more painful than watching your child’s suffer, feeling helpless as they fight through unimaginable pain. This past week has been a nightmare for our family and his girlfriend, Megan (who has been by his side 24/7. Rob (Robby as only his family is allowed to call him) was rushed to the ER on Tuesday morning after days of unbearable pain, nausea and vomiting. What was initially was thought to be food poisoning turned out to be something much more serious, acute appendicitis requiring emergency surgery.
After the surgery, we learned that his appendix was at stage 3, with necrotic tissue and had started to leak, causing a severe infection and inflammation in his abdomen. His recovery has been incredibly difficult with complications that have prolonged his hospital stay. Rob has developed a ileus, meaning his intestines temporarily shut down due to the trauma of surgery. Because of this, he was unable to keep anything down and began violently vomiting, adding even more pain to his already fragile state. The doctors had to insert an NG tube through his nose to drain the fluid from his stomach-a painful but necessary step in his healing process.
On top of this, Rob’s blood pressure has been critically high and his heart rate remains elevated. His medical team is closely monitoring him but there is still no clear timeline for when he will be able to return home. Right now, we are taking things day by day, hoping and praying that his body begins to heal and his intestines “wake up” so he can take his first step toward recovery. If they don’t start working, more tests and procedures will have to be preformed, extending his hospital stay.
As you can imagine, this unexpected medical emergency has placed a significant financial burden on him. Between hospital bills, lost wages, and ongoing medical care, he is facing overwhelming expenses. We want to make sure Rob gets the best care possible without added stress of financial hardship.
If you are able to help in any way - whether through a donation, a share, or simply keeping Rob in your prayers, we would be forever grateful. Every bit of support means the world to us during this difficult time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We just want our son healthy and home again.
