Dear Friends,

I am reaching out to you on behalf of my beloved cousin, Richie Oliver Jr., who was recently involved in a tragic motorcycle accident in New Ulm on June 16th, 2025. Richie is currently hospitalized and battling a traumatic brain injury (TBI) which has made it incredibly challenging for him to remember and carry out basic tasks. We are heartbroken to witness his struggle, and I am determined to rally support for Richie during this difficult time.

As a result of the accident, Richie is facing a lengthy road to recovery. His TBI requires constant supervision and assistance with daily tasks, and he also has a long and arduous rehabilitation ahead which includes a minimum of three months before he can even bear weight on his left leg. The severity of the TBI requires an extended period for symptoms to improve, with the possibility of some lingering for an even longer duration. Richie has undergone extensive reconstructive surgery on his femur neck, and his medical team has expressed the sobering reality of a 1 in 4 chance of the surgery's success. The coming months are uncertain, with potential risks that could necessitate further medical interventions, including a hip replacement, which at his young age could pose an ongoing challenge. In addition to these complexities, Richie's recovery is also marked by emotional strains as he misses his loyal companion, Bear, and longs for the comfort of home. As an independent truck owner-operator, his means of livelihood are currently on hold, adding another layer of concern for his future.

Throughout his ordeal, Richie's positivity, resilience, and unwavering spirit shine through despite the formidable hurdles he faces. His love for life, his unwavering devotion to family and friends, and his innate willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need make him an exceptional individual. It is with these qualities in mind that I am appealing to you for your kindness and generosity.

I am fervently hoping to raise funds to alleviate the financial burden that accompanies Richie's medical expenses, ongoing bills, the essential care team required for his return home, and the vital emotional support that he will rely upon during this challenging period.
